Kinfolks U.S.A. -Model 962

BRAND:   Kinfolks

PATTERN:   #962

OAL:   8-1/8”

BOLSTERS:   Aluminum

HANDLES:   Leather stacked handle

BLADES:   Clip blade of carbon steel

BLADE LENGTH:   4”

GUARD:   Aluminum guard

POMMEL:  Aluminum mushroom pommel with babbit plug.

HANDLE: Stacked leather ring handle

TANG STAMPS:   KINFOLKS/U.S.A.                 Rear Tang Stamp: 962

SHEATH:   According to the Kinfolks website and the picture they show with their example of the 962, this is the correct sheath for this knife.

CONDITION:   Excellent

DAMAGE:   Normal use and wear, some scratches on the blade, a few dings and scratches in the handle.

BLADE WEAR:   I would estimate the blade is within 10% of being full.

AGE:     According to the Kinfolks website the 962 was introduced in the early 1930s and it was at that time they used the babbit plug to hold the handle in place, as opposed to a spanner nut. The practice was continued during World War II when brass was in short supply for knife making.

MADE IN:   U.S.A.

ADDITIONAL INFO:     I did not find a great deal of information on Kinfolks knives; I believe primarily because I do not have a lot of books dealing with Case knives. I do know that the company was started by Dean J. Case, Tint Champlin, and J. Russell Case. The men were cousins and all members of the Case family. The company was started and Little Valley New York and they made very good knives. I am told by knowledgeable Schrade collectors that Kinfolks made all of the fixed blades for Schrade Cut Co. I have no reason to doubt the validity of that statement. It’s amazing to find and 80 to 90 year old sheath that is in such good condition.

*By Purchasing, The Buyer Confirms It Is Legal For Them Purchase And Own This Knife.

This knife will ship via Priority Mail in a padded vinyl envelope or box, whichever is less expensive. When shipping by Priority Mail in padded envelopes I always wrap additional padding around the knife, it will be well padded. I haven’t had one being damaged in shipping yet.
