This is an Imperial PROV R.I. USA 1-Blade Texas Toothpick Folding Pocket Knife, or as Imperial Called Them “The Sportsmaster Outdoor Knife” with a Single Carbon Steel Clip Point Blade with a Long Nail Pull, a Very Nice Set of Multi-Colored Foil Covers with This One of a Running Hunting Dog and in Excellent Condition with No Cracks, Splits or Missing Chips or Slivers, Brightly Polished “Nuloy” Single Flute Rounded Bolsters and Brightly Polished “Nuloy” Single Flute Clasp Style End Caps, Steel Liners, a Single Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, Foil Printed Covers Overlaid with a single clear celluloid cover to Protect the the Very shiny foil cover, 4 1/4” in Length and Made by the Imperial Knife Co Located in Providence Rhode Island Between c.1956-1988.    

This is one of the four different outdoor scenes Imperial made with foil covers on a Texas Toothpick or Fish Knife. I recently sold a set of all four and was going to use this one to accumulate another full set but I no longer have the time. This is an Imperial 1-Blade Texas Toothpick or Fish Folding Pocket Knife.  The knife has a carbon steel clip point blade with a long nail pull. The front face has quite a bit of light pitting mainly along the top portion of the blade with a bit more along the middle of the cutting edge. The rear face has quite a bit of light micro-pitting  with a few more moderate pits. And a few heavier pits along the midline.  Stamped on the front tang is Imperial (with the Imperial crown over the top)(over) PROV. and USA stamped vertically to the right.  This dates the knife as being made between c.1946-1958  making this one of the earliest versions. The blade itself if pretty much unused and unsharpened. though most likely these are from the 1950’s.  Stamped on the rear tang are three of the many different patents held by Imperial with most referring to the attachment of scales on knives with bolsters. The blade still hasgood and decent snap on both open and close.  The covers on this knife are the draw. Imperial came out with four different outdoor scenes on these knives. There was a sailfish, a flying mallard, a hunting dog and a pheasant. The red, green, gold and black covers are still in very good condition.  The foil covers have a clear celluloid cover over the top of the foil covers that protects the foil from damage. The knife has brightly polished “Nuloy” single flute rounded bolsters and brightly polished “Nuloy” clasp type end caps. The knife has steel liners and a single steel back spring. The back spring is free of any cracks or breaks and continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. This beautiful Imperial toothpick or fish knife with the bright foil covers of a running hunting dog is 4 1/4” in length. Made by the Imperial Knife Co of Providence, Rhode Island between c.1956-1988.  Collect all 4 as they display beautifully in a case with just the four knives.  Additional information or photos upon request.
