This vintage IMPERIAL auto knife has an iron lining. The handles of this old folding knife are made of a plastic material over tin.  The handles are in nice shape with no chips or cracks.  The front handle has a yellowish ting while the rear handle appears more white.  The IMPERIAL  pocket knife has one clip point blade.   The blade is in nice but used condition with some pitting, scratch marks and blade loss.  The blade is stamped IMPERIAL with a crown above the I over PROV. U.S.A. on the front and 2170537 over a P over 2281782 on the rear.  The main clip point blade is functional.  However the button appears to be locked in the on position.  If you close the knife and close the safety  the blade stays closed.  When you release the safety the blade opens without having to press the button.   The blade DOES NOT lock up in the open position and has some wobble.  The closed length of the IMPERIAL auto knife is 4 ¼ inches.
