ADDITIONAL INFO:      This is a new old stock 524SC which is the same pattern as the 123OT, Old Timer Pioneer, and the 124UH, Uncle Henry Tradesman. Both of these knives were in the Schrade catalogs from 1985 to 1988. The 524SC was made in 1987 with the picture of the badger in its den and in 1988 with a picture of two grizzly bears.. This one has the plain Ivory colored Delrin handles but was never imprinted with the scrimshaw design. The knife comes in the blue Schrade Scrimshaw series box with the white outer sleeve. The box does have the proper model number, 524SC, printed on the end.

They must’ve made a few of these without the pictures imprinted on them, perhaps as warranty replacements because without any picture it could be used to replace both the 1987 and 1988 version of the 524SC. Or perhaps they had a jobber who wanted some knives of this pattern with plain Ivory colored handles. Regardless of why it was made, here it is ready for your collection or, if you are really bold for your own scrimshaw work. The scrimshaw version of this knife was only made for two years so even the scrimshaw ones are difficult to find. I don’t know how many were made with the ivory Delrin and no scrimshaw picture but there can’t have been too many. This is the first one I have seen and I picked it up 12 or 13 years ago, just shortly after Schrade went out of business. Here is a nice unusual meant peace with box and papers for your collection.
