ADDITIONAL INFO:      The Schrade Walden #209 fisherman’s knife is listed as “New” in both the 1972 and 1973 short line catalogs. It does not appear on any other Schrade catalogs. I think it is likely that there was only one or two production runs of these knives. The #209 does appear on the 1972 pricelist for $3.00 and with a handwritten notation that the #209 was available without sheath for $2.75. Of the three folding fisherman pocket knives that Schrade Walden made, this knife seems to have had the shortest lifespan, two years at best. The #292 first appeared in the 1953 catalogs and was gone by 1956. It had nice jigged bone handles, but it was apparently replaced by the #208Y. The #208Y had yellow celluloid handles with a hook sharpening stone embedded in the handle. It was a heavy knife with nickel silver bolsters on both ends. It seemed to enjoy the longest lifespan of the Schrade folding fisherman knives, first being listed in 1957 and last appearing in the catalog in 1963. Then the last Schrade Walden folding fisherman’s knife was the #209. Being bolster less it was quite a bit later than the #208Y; the #208Y weighed 3.9 ounces and the #209 weight 3.0 ounces, nearly a full ounce lighter. Apart from the smaller #209 (3-7/8”) with its beautiful jigged bone handles, I think the #209 is the most handsome fisherman’s knife Schrade made. These are pretty uncommon and more and more difficult to find. If you need one here is your opportunity.

Note: I did not sharpen this knife, but will do so at no charge if the new owner wishes. Just let me know and I will sharpen it before I mail it.
