ADDITIONAL INFO:      The 2OT was the very first of the Old Timers ever made. Most collectors date it is first appearing in 1959. If you check the pictures you will see the last picture is a Schrade Walden advertising flyer for the 2OT. From information taken from an early 1960 Schrade Walden sales memo, a salesman referred to as “Harry Sr.” met some initial resistance from the buyer at Belknap Hardware when he showed the buyer the 2OT in 1959, but Harry Sr. talked the buyer into the first order. Early 1960, when the sales memo seems to have been written, it is reported that Belknap Hardware had repeated the 2OT order six times! It seems to have been quite popular from the very beginning. At the writing of the memo they were very optimistic that their new 8OT would be equally successful. The memo also notes that the 8OT is based on their best-selling pattern #881. The 2OT is one of the most sought after Old Timer because it was the first Old Timer and apparently only made for two or three years. It appeared in the Schrade Walden price lists for 1959, 1960 & 1961. By 1962 the 2OT has disappeared from the Schrade Walden catalogs and pricelists.

More information specific to this knife: this knife has been lightly professionally cleaned and a repair made to the handle. Note the light area above the handle pin near the rear bolster of the mark side. The bone in this area appeared to be a bit soft as if it had begun to decalcify. I stabilized this area with multiple coats of CA adhesive and then polished it. The blades have good walk and talk and hard snap, the tang stamps are easily discernible with the naked eye as are the stamps on the bolsters. I am including with this knife a leather pocket pouch in case the buyer would like to carry this knife. I am also including beautiful wooden box made by a local craftsman who was a member of our knife club until his recent passing.
