ADDITIONAL INFO:      I was cleaning out a spare closet in our guest bedroom when I discovered a large plastic tote of Imperial Schrade products most of them in clampacks and some that were bulk packed after the Schrade bankruptcy sale. I discovered that Schrade had gone out of business in the summer of 2004 within about a month of the time they close their doors. I bought a lot of Schrade knives from stores before their stock was depleted, and after the bankruptcy sale I bought a lot of Schrade products some of which never made it to in the store shelf that I ever saw. This interesting knife was apparently made for the European market although it appears to be the same as the Imperial Tradesmen branded knife known as the Bladesaw, Tradesmen model #TM6. I took one of these out of the clampack just so I could play with it and see how it worked. The red buttons on the front bolster are the release for the locking mechanism. Each blade locks independently of the other. The saw has nice aggressive teeth and would work nicely on bone as well as wood. The entire knife only weighs 3.1 ounces and would be very nice for carrying in a day pack while hiking. I have no idea what the Lux Company was, but it appears to be German. Under the Lux logo it says “LUX-WERKZEUGE.” When I Goggled that phrase I saw a bunch of pictures of tools and a bunch of business type websites that made me think LUX-WERKZEUGE was no longer in business. I’m not positive but I got the impression that the rough translation of the phrase would be “Lux Tool Works.” Anyway it’s an interesting piece of Imperial Schrade history that their factory in Ireland made knives for a German tool company. I guess that is not too wild when you consider that Imperial Schrade actually had a joint venture with J. A. Henckels of Solingen Germany many years ago. This knife is a little reminder of the tremendous reach of Imperial Schrade Corporation and how they dominated the world cutlery market for many years.
