ADDITIONAL INFO: In 1967 the 897UH was introduced into Schrades product line as the “World’s Finest Pocket Knife.” And of course it was guaranteed against loss. It had stainless steel blades at a time when carbon steel dominated the pocketknife market. Whether it was the stainless steel, the guarantee against loss, the Staglon handles or the somewhat unusual 3-9/16” size in the slim profile that made it so popular I am not sure. It was probably a combination of all of the above but whatever the reason the 897UH became one of the Schrades best-selling knives and I believe, the longest produced knife in the Uncle Henry line. Personally I find the Schrade + stainless steel to be among the best cutlery production stainless steels. There are, in my opinion, better cutlery stainless steels but the price goes up exponentially as the newer and better stainless steels are introduced to the knife market. Here’s your opportunity to grab a piece of American cutlery history and if the history doesn’t interest you is your chance to get a darn good American made pocketknife!
