ADDITIONAL INFO:      This knife is built on a 3-1/4” frame this is a very unusual size frame for Schrade. I don’t find a single Uncle Henry made on the 3-1/4” frame. There was one Open Stock knife built on this frame, the #855 and there was only one Old Timer made on the 3-1/4” frame; the 58OT. Of course the 58OT had the Ulster tang stamp not the Schrade tang stamp. The #855 was introduced into the Open Stock line in 1964, the 58OT first appears in the 1960 literature. From all my research the first appearance of the 3-1/4” frame is the 58OT in 1960. It is my best estimate that this Craftsman #9472 was made after 1960 and that it was made on Swinden machinery at the Schrade factory because there is no visible through pin in the bolsters. When dealing with the company like Sears who ordered knives from various sources, these interesting little bits of trivia help to establish which company made the knife and an approximate timeframe in which the knife was produced.
