This is a **RARE** Barely Touch Vintage, or Antique, NEW YORK KNIFE CO. WALDEN “HAMMER BRAND” Model No. 2897 Silver-toned 2-Blade Equal End Shadow Pen Folding Twist Ring Pocket Knife and has a Barely, if Ever, Used Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, Brightly Polished Etched or Embossed Silver-tone Handles with a Very Decorative and Intricate Floral Motif and with a Twist Ring on Each Side as an Alternate Method for Opening and Closing the Blades, a Single Brightly Polished Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 1/8” in Length, Made by the New York Knife Company that was Located in Walden, New York with this Particular Knife Made Between c.1882 and 1931.

This is only the third twist ring knife I’ve seen made by NYKC and the second one I’ve ever owned and it still functions perfectly.  I sold my first one for $185.00 and this one is in much better condition. This is a **RARE** New York Knife Company Hammer Brand Model No. 2897 2-blade shadow pen twist ring pocket knife. Neither blade appears to have ever been used or sharpened but at most they were barely touched. It has a carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. The front face on this blade is clean and the rear face has only 2 or 3 very very light stains. It opens with either the standard nail pull or can be opened or closed with the twist ring on the handle. Stamped on the front tang is HAMMER (over) BRAND along with the NYKC arm and hammer Hammer Brand logo. Stamped on the rear tang is the model number of 2897. The knife also has a carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. It too can either be opened with the nail pull or opened or closed with the twist ring. The front face has two small stains and there's one on the rear face. These blades are pretty darn clean. Stamped on the front tang is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE CO. (over) WALDEN. Both blades have very good to excellent snap on open and close without using the rings. Both the rings are mechanically in excellent shape and open and close each blade smoothly. The handles on the knife are a very decorative silver-toned metal with a raised and very decorative and intricate floral design. I’m kind of surprised they didn’t make these handles from sterling silver but they aren’t stamped as such so I can only only believe they’re just silver-toned. They’re in fantastic shape and I don’t see any scratching on them at all. The knife has a single steel back spring with no breaks or cracks. It continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. This **RARE** New York Knife Co. Hammer Brand Shadow Pen Twist Ring Folding Pocket Knife is 3 1/8” in length and hard to find in any condition let alone one that polished up this well. This knife was made between c.1882-1931 by the New York Knife Company of Walden, New York.  Additional photos or information on request.
