ALEXANDER SHEFFIELD is a name mark on mid-1800's cutlery.  There is NO ALEXANDER listed in Sheffield Knife Makers directories from that era.  ALEXANDER SHEFFIELD was the name used by an American Importer (A.T. Stewart) in New York City during the mid 1800's.  At the same time, SMITH BROTHERS BOSTON was listed in Botson Directories as a seller of cutlery.  This knife looks Sheffield made for American distribution by ALEXANDER the N.Y. city importer AND by SMITH BROTHERS BOSTON.  The knife is approximately 3 1/2" long when closed.  The fine tortoise-shell handles show some tight age fractures which cannot be seen with the naked eye and cannot be photographed.  There is no material loss to the handles(see pics).  The beautiful tortoise-shell handles are complemented by a nickel-silver bar shield AND grooved bolsters(see pics).  The spear master blade is tang stamped:  ALEXANDER SHEFFIELD(see pics).  Both half-stop secondary blades are stamped:  SMITH BROTHERS BOSTON(see pics).  All three blades snap open/closed.  Buyer to pay $15.00 for postage, full insurance, packaging, transportation and, Paypal's share of the shipping.  No international shipping.
