Hammer brand Type Logo Not A Tang Stamp 7/8 x 5/8" Wood With Antimony Copper Face Pinned On
New York Knife introduced the Hammer Brand logo around 1880. This style of print block, wood base with a copper plate impression, applied to an Antimony base and pinned had been used since the 1840's or a bit earlier and was used up until the teens or in some rural areas even later, as long as somebody knew how to set tjhat type. The image has very little wear for it's age, I have made an impression using red sealing wax so you can see the image.
