This is a Vintage NEW YORK KNIFE CO. WALDEN “Hammer Brand” 2-Blade Equal End Pen Folding Pocket Knife with a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Set of Pale Yellow Imitation Pearl Celluloid Scales in Excellent Plus Condition with No Cracks, Splits or Missing Chips, Three (3) German Silver Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished German Silver Rounded Bolsters, Brightly Polished Brass Blade Liners, a Single Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 5/16” in Length and Made Between c.1882-1931.

This is a very lightly used and sharpened NYKC Equal End Pen Pocket Knife. The knife has a lightly used and sharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. Both blades faces have quite a bit of scattered light to moderate pitting along with scratches from use. Stamped on the front tang is HAMMER RAND along with the Hammer Brand arm and hammer logo. The knife also has a very lightly used or sharpened carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. The front face has scattered moderate pitting but the rear face just has some micro-pits mostly down the centerline of the blade. Stamped on the front tang is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE CO (over) WALDEN. Both blades are still pretty close to full and both have good excellent open and close snap. The knife has a set of pale elbow simulated Pearl celluloid scales. They’re in excellent plus condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There are three (3) German Silver handle pins in each scale. The bolsters are rounded brightly polished German Silver with no dents or dings. The liners are brightly polished brass. The knife has a single steel back spring It has a lot of moderate pitting but it’s free of any cracks or breaks. It continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. The Knife is 3 5/16” in length and made by the New York Knife Co. located in Walden, New York and made between c.1882-1931. Additional photos or information on request.
