This is a Very Hard to Find, Vintage, or Antique, New York Knife Co Walden Model No. 2772 2-Blade Equal End Pen Folding Pocket Knife with a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Carbon Steel Fingernail File, or Manicure, Secondary Blade with a Long Nail Pull, a Set of Genuine Mother-of-Pearl Scales with No Cracks, Splits or Missing Chips, Three Brass Handle Pins in Each Scale, Extended Etched Aluminum Bolsters with a Flower Motif, German Silver Liners, a Single Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 1/8” in Length, Made by the New York Knife Company that was Located in Walden, New York, Between c.1882 and 1931 in Walden, New York.

This is a hard to find Vintage or Antique New York Knife Co Model No. 2772 Equal End Pen with etched aluminum bolsters. The knife has been used and sharpened quite a bit with the spear blade possibly reshaped at the tip. It has been sharpened down and the tip may have been reshaped from a possible once broken tip. The front face ha scratches from use and sharpening and some scattered staining. The rear face has scratches from use and sharpening but just a bit of staining and light pits near the tang. Stamped on the front tang is HAMMER (over) BRANDalong with the Hammer Brand arm and hammer logo. The knife has a carbon steel dual-sided fingernail file, or manicure, secondary blade with a long nail pull. There is a standard vertical ridge and valley style nail file on each face. The top of the blade is the fingernail cleaner. Someone decided on their own to sharpen a cutting edge on the front edge of the file blade. It certainly isn’t factory so be careful when handling this blade because it’s sharp. Stamped on its front tang is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE Co (over) WALDEN. The knife has a set of genuine Mother-of-Pearl scales. They’re in good condition with no cracks, splits, missing chips or missing slivers but there is a bit of separation on the back scale near the spear blade rear bolster. There are three brass handle pins in each scale. The knife has elongated etched aluminum bolsters each with the same flower motif. Each of the bolster pins line up as the pistil to each flower design. The bolsters have all been roughed up over the years. It appears the knife was carried quite a bit in a pocket full of change judging from the number of small dings on each bolster. The liners on the knife are German Silver. The knife has a single steel back spring. It is free of any cracks or breaks and continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. The knife is 3 1/8” in length and made in the NYKC factory that was located in Walden, New York and Made Between c.1882-1931. Additional photos or information on request.
