CONDITION:   Very Good

DAMAGE:   Normal use and wear, scratches. There is a crack about half an inch from the rear bolster on the pile side that is very tight. It appears very stable. Knife also has slight surface rust.

BLADE WEAR:   Spear blade appears to be 90% full

SNAP:   Good

ADDITIONAL INFO:     The serif letters in the tang stamp indicates this knife was made prior to Albert Baer’s purchase of Ulster Knife Company in January 1941. The steel liners indicate it was probably made during World War II after the cutlery companies had brass rationed to them circa 1942. I do not believe this knife has been taken apart, I believe it is original, with the exception of the fact that when I bought the knife one spring was missing. The knife was assembled, but the spring for the master blade was missing although the knife was still pinned from the mark to the slot for the missing spring. I had an Ulster parts knife with a good spring, so I installed it in this knife. All blades have good snap. As mentioned above there is a very tight crack in the pile side handle about a half an inch out from the rear bolster. This is a great old knife with lots of character.
