Here's a rare specimen. The W. Bingham Co was founded in 1841 when it bought out Clark & Murfey Hardware. They remained in business until 1961. During that time, they sold a wide range of tools and other products. Some of their higher end products were marked by the BBB trademark, which stood for Binghams Best Brand. Among the items they sold, were high quality straight razors. From what I can find, the razors that feature the BBB stamp were made for Bingham by Ulster Knife Company. However, this razor is marked Wellgren, Sweden; yet it has the BBB stamp. Perhaps Ulster was having the blades imported. Or maybe they contracted out production of razors. It's most likely one of the countless mysteries of US knife makers that will never be solved. Either way,  Sweden was producing great quality steel and cutlery in the late 1800's.

This razor has some of the most interesting looking scales I've ever seen. They are a very cool translucent yellow, which almost appear to glow when they catch the light just right. I can't help but wonder what they might look like under a black light. The blade shows signs of use and honing. Still plenty of blade left. There are some light blemishes throughout but the scales are free of any chips or cracks.
