ADDITIONAL INFO:   The Schrade Uncle Henry Pro Hunter, #171UH, was first introduced in 1971 but it had a birds head pommel. In 1973 it was changed to a flat pommel like this knife has. They were made until 1983 when it was discontinued. The pattern was reintroduced briefly and appears in the Schrade catalogs in 1990 and 1991. I believe this knife is from the 1973 to 1983 timeframe because this knife is carbon steel. I don’t know at what point Schrade switched the Uncle Henry line switched over to all stainless steel, but I believe it was in the mid-1970s. I believe the pro-hunters made in 1990 and 1991 were all stainless steel.

This knife has quite a view superficial scratches dings and dents but they really don’t affect the performance of the knife. This knife would be an excellent user! Since it is carbon steel it should be easier to sharpen and should hold attach longer than the stainless steel versions.

The sheath is a Buck sheath and it holds the handle of the knife very securely. I believe this sheath is considerably newer than the 1970s sheath that I usually see with these older knives. The leather of the Buck sheath is still in good serviceable condition; it holds its shape well and has not been softened by years of use and of applying the wrong leather treatment. This is a great knife for someone who wants to use it; it is carbon steel and as beefy as this blade is it should last a couple lifetimes with even basic care & attention to the knife.
