Vintage 1970's U.S.A. made 498 Custom "Bench Made" Gold Rush 49'er fixed blade 1095 high carbon steel blade hunting & skinning knife.  Blade is full and nicely sharpened with very little carbon staining and no pitting.  The stacked leather finger grooved handle is very nice also, making the knife well balanced, the hilt and pummel are both hammered textured which features the theme of gold nuggets.  The stamp on the lower portion of the brass pummel, is placed there by the expert craftsman who crafted this fine knife and hand finished the carbon steel blade, once completed to their satisfaction.  These Gold Rush commutive knives were offered for a short time only.  Blade length measures 5" in length and 9 3/8" overall knife length.  The original leather sheath is stamped with the "Gold Rush" insignia.  Sheath had a cut in the rear that has been mended.
