ADDITIONAL INFO:   The 153UH, Golden Spike, was introduced in 1973 and there was not any notation of the steel type that I have been able to find until the 1978 Short Line catalog. In the 1978 short line it said this about the Uncle Henry’s, “Folding knife blades are of rust resistant Schrade+ steel.” I could find no mention of the fixed blade Uncle Henry’s having Schrade+ steel, until the 1983 catalog, with the exception of the flexible blade fillet knives 162UH, 164UH & 167UH. In the 1983 Short Line Catalog all of the Uncle Henry patterns, both folding and fixed blade were described as having Schrade+ steel.

Assuming that the information listed in the catalogs is accurate, (big assumption), this carbon steel 153UH would’ve been made between 1973 and 1983. However, with the low serial number before the alpha numeric numbers were introduced I would think this knife was made between 1973 and 1975.,

At any rate this 153UH Golden Spike is made with a carbon steel blade, low serial number and the blade is still in excellent shape and the blade etch is still visible.
