This is a New York Knife Co 4-Blade camp/utility knife made for the U.S. Army. The knife has a barely touched and likely unsharpened carbon steel saber spear point main blade with a double nail pull consisting of the long nail pull and then another common nail pull closer to the blade tip. Both faces have just some scattered light staining. Stamped on the front tang is HAMMER (over) BRAND along with the Hammer Brand arm and hammer logo. The next blade, on the same pivot end as the spear blade, is a carbon steel combo blade. This blade has a flat blade screwdriver on the tip of the blade and a cap-lifter on the bottom. Stamped on the bottom of this blade is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE CO (over) WALDEN. On the opposite end of the frame is a carbon steel can opener blade that’s couple and still fully functional. It has staining on both faces. On this same pivot end is a carbon steel Garrison leather punch that was patented in 1902 v so we know this knife was made between 1902 and 1931 with most most likely made during WW I. Stamped on the inside of the punch is PAT. NO. 701,838. The outside of the punch is clean and the inside has just a bit of light staining.  All four (4) blades still have excellent open and close snap and all four (4) still have hard half-stops. The knife has an excellent plus set of brown jigged bone stag scales. They’re in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There is also a notch on the front scale to allow the tab on the can opener to seat flush in the frame when the blade is closed.  There is a long brightly polished German Silver fancy gimp style shield on the front scale and stamped within it is ARMY KNIFE. There are three (3) brass handle pins in each scale. The knife has brightly polished German Silver single fluted rounded bolsters. The original removable German Silver or steel shackle is still attached to the bolsters. The knife has brightly polished brass liners with a steel heavy duty bottom center liner. There are two heavy duty steel back springs and both are free of any cracks or breaks. Both springs continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This hard to find, in this good of condition, or any condition, Vintage New York Knife Co ARMY KNIFE IS 3 5/8” in length.  It was made in the NYKC factory located in Walden, New York, with this model made between c.1902-1931.  Additional information or photos upon request.
