This is a really nice Cattaraugus Model No. 206-Shrine Shadow Pen made for or to commemorate the Shriners. The tang stamp on this one has worn away but I’ve included a photo from one of my Cattaraugus catalogs. It’s possible the main blade may have been replaced as the nail nick should be closer to the blade tip. But that could have changed in later years but would explaining no tang stamping. The blade does look original to the knife though. It has a used and sharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. The front face has scratches from use and some scattered pitting with most beyond the nail pull. The rear face has a couple of clusters of light pitting about mid blade. a few scratches and a few light pits next to the tang. The knife has a used and sharpened carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. The front face just a few very light very scattered pits. scratches from use and some very scattered light pitting. The spear blade is quiet on both open and close and the pen blade has a decent snap on open but it is also quiet on close. Both blades still have excelIt has a nice set of medium brown worm grooved jigged bovine bone scales. There’s a single small chip on the bottom of the front scale next to the larger bolster. While shooting some better photos on my old background I ran across an extremely tight crack on the front scale on the main blade pivot end. Maybe 5/16” long it runs from the top liner and curves over to the bolster. In spite of the blade issues these beautiful silver and enamel handles still have bright colors that really pop. Both scales are identical and have a black enamel background. There is also some red, white and green enamel to go along with the silver. There are several icons related to the Shriners. There’s the red flex hat with star and tassel worn by the Shriners. There’s also a camel in silver, a palm tree in silver with the fronds in green. Next to the palm tree is a pyramid in silver and then the Shriners emblem in silver and white enamel and a red star. There is a silver border all the way around each handle. All of the enamel is in very good condition. The liners are nickel silver and the single back spring is steel. The spring is free of any cracks or breaks and continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. This vintage rare Cattaraugus Model No. 206-Shriner shadow pen pocket knife is 2 7/8” in length. Additional photos or information on request.
