WWII Era Cattaraugus Quatermaster 225Q

Very cool piece of American history.  The Cattaraugus 225Q "Quartermaster" is a durable WWII-era (1942–1944) combat-utility knife, renowned for its extremely thick, roughly 6-inch carbon steel blade and heavy, checkered steel pommel designed for hammering. Often called a "Commando" knife, it was designed for rugged tasks like opening supply crates.

Stacked leather handle shows some use, but not a significant loss of material.  Sheath is not original, but  in very good condition and works well with the knife.

The historic part - look closely at the last image.  The name D.W. Heath is etched into the blade.  It likely wouldn't take much effort to find information about the military service of D.W. Heath.
