MAKE ME AN OFFER I CAN'T REFUSE

This knife, made by the New York Knife Co. as their Model No. BB1, was made around c.1914 to commemorate Buffalo Bill Cody and is usually referred to as the Buffalo Bill Scout Knife. It has the same blade configuration as the pre-1923 NYKC Official Boy Scout Knives and has the same German Silver oval shield but with a depiction, or portrait, of Buffalo Bill Cody stamped within it. The knife has a single cutting blade and 3 other tool blades with 5 tools. The knife has a used and sharpened carbon steel clip point main blade with a common nail pull. Both faces have scratches from use and sharpening and just a few minor specks. Stamped on the front tang is HAMMER (over) BRAND along with the Hammer Brand arm and hammer logo. The next blade, on the same pivot end as the clip blade, is the carbon steel screwdriver combo blade. This blade has a flat blade screwdriver on the tip of the blade and a wire scraper below that on both edges. This blade has some scattered staining and some very light scattered micro-pits. Stamped on the bottom of this blade is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE CO (over) WALDEN. On the opposite end of the frame is the other carbon steel combo blade which consists of a can opener and a crown cap bottle opener. Both blade faces have some scattered staining. And on this same pivot end is a Harrison leather punch. Stamped on the back side of the punch is PAT. NO. 701,878. This patent number was issued to Owen L. Harrison in 1902. Both sides of the punch have just some scattered very light staining.  The clip and screwdriver combo blade have very good snap on open and very hard snap on close. The other combo blade and the punch have excellent hard snap on open and close and very hard half-stops. The knife has an excellent plus set of dark brown jigged bone stag scales. They’re in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There is an easy open on the top of the front scale for easier access to the screwdriver combo blade nail pull. There is also a notch on the front scale to allow the tab on the can opener to seat flush in the frame. There is a brightly polished German Silver oval shield on the front scale and stamped within it is a depiction of Buffalo Bill Cody. There are three brass handle pins in each scale. The knife has brightly polished German Silver single fluted and rounded bolsters. The original German Silver or steel bail is still attached to the bolsters. The knife has brightly polished brass liners with a heavy duty bottom center liner. There are two heavy duty steel back springs and both are free of any cracks or breaks. Both springs continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This hard to find and Rare Vintage Model No. BB1 New York Knife Co. Buffalo Bill Scout Knife was made around c.1914.
