This is a Vintage NEW YORK KNIFE CO WALDEN Model No. 2369 “HAMMER BRAND” 2-Blade Slim Jack Folding Pocket Knife with an Unused and Unsharpened Carbon Steel Long Spear Point Main Blade with a Long Nail Pull and with the HAMMER BRAND and the arm & hammer logo blade etch still very visible, an Unused and Unsharpened Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, Black Ebony Wood Scales in Excellent Plus Condition with No Cracks, Splits or Missing Chips, a German Silver crest shaped shield inlaid flush in the front scale, Three (3) German Silver Handle Pins in Each Scale, Polished German Silver Rounded Bolsters and End Caps, Brightly Polished Brass Liners, Two (2) Steel Back Springs with No Cracks or Breaks, Made by the New York Knife Co. that was Located in Little Valley, New York in Their First Line of Hammer Brand Knives and Made Between c.1882 and 1931.

Although the model number isn’t stamped on the blade tang I think this knife is their Model No. 2369, which is a Slim Jack with Ebony scales. Neither blade on this NYKC Jack appear to have ever been used or sharpened. I just wish when they stored it they would have been protected from moisture. It has an unused and unsharpened carbon steel long spear point main blade with a very long nail pull.  You can still easily see the HAMMER BRAND and the Hammer Brand arm and hammer logo that was etched on the front face. Not as visible as when new but still visible nonetheless and these are hard to find. Unfortunately both blade have suffered from some moisture issues. The front face of the spear blade has some very scattered specks with some micro-pits within. The rear face is much cleaner with only some extremely light scattered stains. Stamped on the front tang is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE CO (over) WALDEN. The knife also has an unused and unsharpened carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. The front face has two larger areas of staining and there’s some very light pitting beyond that up to the blade tip. The rear face is much cleaner with just a few minor light stains. Stamped on the front tang of the pen blade is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE CO (over) WALDEN. The spear blade still has excellent plus snap on open and close and a hard half-stop. The pen blade feels looser in the frame though the back spring looks good. It moves well in the frame but is quiet on both open and close.  It has an excellent plus set of black Ebony wood scales with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There is a German Silver crest shaped shield inlaid flush in the front scale. There are three (3) German Silver handle pins in each scale. The knife has brightly polished German Silver rounded bolsters and end caps. The liners are polished brass. The knife has two steel back springs and both are free of any breaks or cracks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This vintage New York Knife Company Hammer Brand Slim Jack Pocket Knife with the unused and unsharpened blades and the original Hammer Brand blade etch is is 3 3/8” in length.
