From my understanding & research these were issued to German paratroopers during WW2. Blade is an OTF out the front blade and is tang stamped with the makers mark
Overall condition: The Chute Awl is broken and missing. Please see photos. I spoke with a friend who is a collector and dealer in military items and said it was not uncommon due a problem in heat treating, to find these knives with that piece broken. The knife will extend and retract and will go back into place fine.
That being said this is still an interesting piece and could perhaps be used for parts if one desired.
The blade show signs of use and handling. The knife scales show signs of use and wear. Thereis a crack in the wood near the lanyard ring on the end. Please see photos for condition. If you would like more photos please ask and I will send you more.
