SHEATH: Quality leather sheath with plastic liner in the blade pouch. Not the original sheath, but better quality than the original factory made from Western.

CONDITION: Very good

DAMAGE:   Normal use and wear with scratches to blade & handle. It had been ground on severely by a bench grinder, from the looks of it. I had to remove some of the blade to get the belly out of the blade and remove the majority of the grinder marks.

 ADDITIONAL INFO:   I am a huge fan of Western knives for the simple fact that their carbon steel is some of the best ever made in my opinion. The edge holding ability of their knives is legendary and the ease of sharpening is amazing. I removed the majority of the scratches and a fair amount of the blade, in order to remove the severe belly that had been sharpened into the blade. (Imagine a worn spot in the blade, 1.5” in length and about ¼" deep). Most of the sanding I did on this blade was done by hand on a long leather covered micarta block. By working through from 120 grit to 600 grit sandpaper I was able to make the knife serviceable and presentable. While the blade is a little narrower than it was originally, now has a nice profile for cleaning large trout and a good point on the blade for piercing the belly skin. This is probably not the knife that someone would want to buy and display, because of the blade loss, but it would make a great fishing knife, or a good quality hunting knife for a young person, (or anyone for that matter.)
