ADDITIONAL INFO:     This knife is an SFO by Western Cutlery Co. for Coast Cutlery Co. of Portland Oregon. Coast Cutlery Co. was not a manufacturer of cutlery, but they were a jobber, distributor and an import of cutlery. The company was started by Henry Brands, a hardware salesman around 1919. Henry moved to Oregon and discovered that the fishermen along the Oregon coast needed a larger fish knife for filleting  50 lb Chinook salmon than the stock he had. He designed a larger heavier fish fillet knife with a spoon on the end to assist in cleaning the fish. For many years Coast Cutlery had some of the better companies in the industry making knives for them. Western Cutlery arguably made some of the finest carbon steel fixed blade knives of the last century, with the Coast Cutlery focus on quality it is only natural that they would choose Western Cutlery to make many of their high quality knives. I have owned a number of Coast Cutlery knives made by Western and I have found them to be every bit as good as the ones with the Western name on them. This would be a nice knife for a collection or an outstanding addition to someone's hunting equipment.
