SNAP:   Snaps nicely upon open and close, but the action is stiff between open and close. I don’t think this knife has been used so the action is still tight because of friction from the liner lock. That will likely get a bit easier as the knife is broken in.

 ADDITIONAL INFO:     The best information I have found on the PK series of knives is in Phil Rodenberg’s book, “A Chronicle of Gerber Legendary Blades 1939-1986.” The book was self-published in 2010 and to the best of my knowledge only 100 copies were made. It is the only work I know of devoted to Gerber sporting knives. In Phil’s book He says the PK series was introduced after the classic series of folding knives which were introduced in 1976. It's likely the PK series was introduced in 1978 as the Folding Sportsman series was introduced the following year in 1979.

There were four knives in the PK series, PK-1 which had two blades at opposing ends of the frame, the PK-2 which is a liner lock and the PK-2D which had a drop point blade. DPK 3 was also called the handyman- electrician which had a regular blade and a locking screwdriver blade. I don't know how long the PK series were made, but I think it was only for a few years. There are not many of them found these days. This is a nice piece for the Gerber collector, and it was made in Oregon, U.S.A.
