D'Holder Schrade A. G. Russell Limited Edition Drop Point Hunting Knife w/Burled Maple Handle -- RARE!!! (IMG_6652)

ABSOLUTE MINT CONDITION: Never Carried/Used/Sharpened/Polished/Cleaned -- Please see photos for size and condition.

Designed by the world recognized Arizona knife maker D'Alton Holder (known as D'Holder)  and produced by the Schrade Custom Shop for A. G. Russell. Has a mirror finished ATS-34 high-carbon, high chromium steel drop point blade and guard and exquisite burled maple scales.  Etched with  "Schrade/D'Holder" on one side of the blade and "BG42 2001 1 of 400" on the reverse side. Also includes beautiful original custom tooled leather sheath, fleece lined Schrade branded zippered carrier and original factory literature.

The knife is beautifully crafted and exhibits flawless fit & finish. The thick blade was ground with a full tapered tang and the taper work balances the knife exceptionally well. The blade was polished to a deeply mirrored finish and the blade etch is bold and strong. The blade is incredibly sharp and will shave with the ease of a finely honed straight razor. It is truly "hair-popping" sharp. The thick bolsters are polished to a deeply mirrored finish as well. The bolsters were nicely shaped and skillfully fitted with very clean blade / bolister junctions.

The knife has that special feel of a fine custom. It's a tough concept to explain but one you never forget after handling a fine knife. The balance is outstanding and the knife offers fine blade control.

This is a piece of American knife history - never to be made again.  Schrade closed its doors in 2004. And D'Alton Holder, who is recognized as one of the most prominent knifemakers in the world, passed away in 2022. So the supply of his custom knives is now fixed and more valuable than ever. Holder was a past president of the Knifemakers Guild and a member of the Knifemakers Hall Of Fame.  He began making knives in 1966 and joined the Knifemakers Guild in 1973 and became President in 1982 and re-elected in 1996.
