Rare Douris Chastel Le Superoto, Out The Front (OTF) Switchblade Knife Variation, France, Unused. This is a 1960's Le Superoto variation with a shorter spear point blade that is marked ROSTFREI. The handle sides also have a different design than the normal longer model. I believe it was made for the German market since they used to have shorter blade length requirements there. I searched and could not find another model with the same blade style or shorter length. I also asked several friends who are switchblade collectors, some with several versions of the Le Superoto and none had seen this variation. 

It's a very interesting design with a lever that allows the blade to be tightened when extended to remove blade play. The lever on this one is made of steel, later models were plastic. Here's a link for additional information on this model - https://www.talkblade.info/viewtopic.php?t=24424.

- Knife is unused. The blade has light firing marks from opening and closing. Also has a blade mark where I think the locking lever would meet the blade when the blade is closed. I don't see any other condition issues. Please see the pictures as they represent the condition accurately. Picture note - I took two pictures of each side of the blade because it's so shiny it's hard to get a good picture. 

- Functions great, fires strong and locks up with very little blade play. The knife has a lever on top of the handle near the opening to tighten the blade lockup when it's extended. 

- Approximately 8 inch total length with blade extended, approximately 3 1/4 inch blade.

ABOUT: I'm an US Army Veteran that became a big pocket knife user while I was on active duty in Panama. Back then my goto was always a Spyderco since I grew up in Colorado. In 2010 I started collecting knives and in 2021 I decided to go all in and became a dealer. I love the gig however it's a lot of work for a one man show. I spend my days buying, selling and sometimes trading knives. I also travel to knife and gun shows regularly, walking up and down aisle's looking for cool stuff to offer to my customers and the online world.

I've been ripped of and scammed many more times as a dealer than I ever was as a collector. I guess it's a volume deal. I'm buying and selling way more knives than I ever did as a collector. 

In my listings I always do my best to give accurate information about the knives I'm selling including what it is and the condition. I take lots of pictures showing as much of the knives as possible and offer video's for all the switchblades and some of the other knives I list. I research sale prices and other available information on all my knives. I also have a great network of other dealers and collectors to get information and opinions from. All that said, I still make mistakes so please let me know if something I say is innacurate or misleading.
