There is no publishing date on this book, but one internet reference says it was written in 1970.  The author William R. Williamson presented at the American Society of Arms Collectors in the Fall of 1971. He became a BLADE Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame Inductee in 1984. 

From the "About the Author" written by himself, Williamson writes, "William R. Williamson is America's foremost collector and authority on Bowie type knives. His knife collection numbers several hundred specimens, and he has been preparing background material for a Bowie knife book for the past several years. When published the work will unquestionably be the final authority on the subject."
