LF&C Legacy Collection - Landers, Frary & Clark - Meriden Cut Co - Ray Haselton Customs

Made in America!

Since it's birth in New Britian, CT in 1862, Landers, Frary and Clark has been an American icon of classic blades, often recognized by their "Universal" TradeMark.  At one point, they even rose to be the highest selling cutler on earth. One of the most recognizable knife patterns in history is the "Knuckle Duster" trench knife, which saw combat action in both of the world wars. LF&C was a major contributor to the production of these knives for the Allied forces. In 1916, LF&C bought out nearby competitor, Meriden Cutlery Co, which was founded 1855. They continued producing a line of Meriden knives, with it's Anvil TradeMark, until 1925. In 1914, pocket knives were added to LF&C's production line, which carried on until the 1930's, when many American cutlers saw a dramatic reduction in sales during the Great Depression. This resulted in countless knife makers closing their doors permanently. However, through their continued success in producing table and kitchen knives, the LF&C legacy survived for over 100 years, until it was finally bought out by General Electric in 1965.

I recieved these fixed blade knives in a lot which had several custom knives and refurbished blades from Ray Haselton of Vermont. This style matches up with his custom work that I have seen. These knives have obvious signs of use and resharpening as well as the wear and markings you'd expect to find on blades of this age.
