Rare Gil Hibben 20.5in Old West Bowie Knife GH5013 in Outstanding condition. This elegant recreation offers a hardwood handle accented by the brass-plated blade catcher and guard which are reminiscent of the styling of original bowies. The classic 14” 420 Stainless steel blade features a crisp mirror finish. Included is a genuine leather sheath with brass plated star and Hibben Knives embossing. The Gil Hibben GH5013 is a great looking way to slice through any of your cutting assignments. This Bowie Knife from United Cutlery is made using a 420 stainless steel material that is guaranteed to be extremely strong with lasting edge retention. The hardwood handle and brass guard not only look great, but serve to provide you with an amazing grip in any situation. This knife is an actual copy of a typical Bowie knife of the 1830s. The story of the Bowie began on a sandbar of the Mississippi River above Natchez, Mississippi on September 19, 1827. A brawl that eventually involved Col. James “Jim” Bowie, who, having been shot and stabbed, successfully defended himself killing Major Norris Wright and wounding Alfred Blanchard with what onlookers described as a “large butcher knife.” This and other tales of Bowie’s abilities with a knife led to the widespread popularity of what became known as the “Bowie” knife.  Comes in original full-color box with all packing materials.
