Folk's, the Ideal Hunting knife was Webster Marble's 1st attempt at knife making, and as it turned out, his most successful. Introduced to the world in 1899, W L Marble had this to say about his design : This knife is the Ideal cross between a sticking and skinning knife.... hand made, hand tested. There is about as much difference between our Ideal Hunting knives and any other knife... as there is between a porcupine & a grizzly bear !!!

This is the Marble's Ideal

This is Marble's 1st knife pattern. Prototyped in 1899 in the 1st versions, and by 1901, this Marble's Ideal pattern took America by storm !!! It was in the cockpit on the 1st trans-atlantic flight, carried by explorers worldwide on expeditions to every corner of the world !!! In my referance book's, I can trace a Marble's Ideal with rosewood handle & stag pommel as far back as 1903 !!!

Knife is 8 1/2" OAL

Blade is 4 3/16"

Blade is brushed finish high carbon. Ideals are 1st recognized by the Huge Fuller on each side. Blade has a small etch of a moose in crosshairs, a long used Marble's logo. Heavy brass guard and the famous Marble's spacers

It is stamped: Marbles W/ the banner Marble's stamp

It is handled Rosewood. Pommel is Genuine Stag, and is big and knarly. A time tested Marble's pattern knife.

Comes to ya New, in original Marbles box, never used or carried

Also has the Marbles oil tanned leather sheath W/ Internal cut guard, a very nice feature. Also has the cattails stamped in the leather, unique & not often seen on Marbles sheaths !!! This cattails feature can be traced back to 1901 when Marble's offered a few sheaths with this feature only for a very short time.
