This Legendary knife is modeled after the highly successful Mark II combat knife, which earned its reputation in the jungles of Vietnam. Seeing as how the MK II was basically illegal to carry anywhere in the US, Gerber designed the MK I as the civilian counterpart. 

The new design called for a traditional dagger style, as the "wasp body" blades with serrations were deemed far too aggressive for EDC. The blade length needed to be reduced as well; with the MK I being offered in 5" and 4.5" blade variations. The features that Gerber managed to keep were the Armorhide handle material, which is often described as "indestructible", and the highly renowned L6 high carbon "Tool Steel" blade (up until 1981)

The "Slanted Sword" tang stamp indicates that this is a first generation MK I (1976-1981) which means that the 4.5" dagger blade is constructed with L6 tool steel. Its solid piece, Armorhide handle is in excellent condition with some light markings on the guard. The blade has some file markings on it, but I'd estimate at least 95% of the blade remains. It comes with its original leather sheath with boot clip.
