Depending on where you look for information on this you may see it called by different names. Some say Civil War Era mess kit while others say traveling dining kit. So far as I can tell it has no markings on it at all. Case is a little less than 6" long. Fork and Spoon are about 3 1/4" closed. Portion of latch is missing on case. Handle on fork has a crack. I think the handles are French Ivory (cell). Really neat collapsible drinking cup. Roland made a comment on these kits years back and said that many of the elite traveling class carried their own eating utensiles due to sanitatary practices. Also see that some Civil War officers carried these type of kits. That may well be the case. Do a little research and see what you come up with.
