ADDITIONAL INFO:     The Gerber Folding Hunter was designed by Francis "Ham" Gerber in the design of the handle was inspired by Thomas Lam's 1945 handle patent. The HS on the mark side of the tang stamp stands for high-speed steel, – (LG4).  These these are most  commonly seen with walnut and checkered walnut handles. The Gerber Folding Hunters were introduced in 1968. "The first one were available with either a Delrin plastic, smooth walnut or checkered walnut handle plus a High-Speed Steel blade or a stainless one." – Phil Rodenberg.

Rodenberg also points out that the Folding Hunter was available in 1973 in 1974 with a checkered ebony handle. 1974 was the last year that the Lamb Handled Gerber Folding Hunter was produced.

This knife has the HS on the mark side tang stamp indicating that it is made with high-speed steel. This knife has the Delrin handle, which is the first of its kind that I have seen. Most often I have seen the walnut handled folding hunters, with smooth or checkered handles. According to LG4 the high-speed steel blades are more desirable to collectors than the stainless steel blades.
