This little pen knife measures 3 1/8 inches closed.  The dark brown jigged bone handles are chip and crack free.  Both blades open and close with good snap and both have half stops.  There's just a very slight bit side to side movement on the main blade when fully open.  Blades have heavy patina and some pitting.  The main blade has a small chip as shown in the attached photos.  This knife has a single backspring and has nickel silver bolsters, a pinned oval shield, and brass pins and liners.  According to Goin's Encyclopedia of Cutlery markings, the A. Field (Alfred Field) Progress tang stamp was used from c. 1886-1942.  Knives bearing this stamping were made in Germany, Sheffield, and the USA.  This would be a super Sunday go to meetin' knife to slip in your pocket.
