This is a really nice Vintage Griffon XX Cutlery Works Germany 7-Blade Double Swell Center Shadow Lobster Pen Folding Pocket Knife with 3 cutting blades and 4 tool blades.  In addition it still has its pair of tweezers that slips underneath the scales on the end of the knife. It’s really in great overall shape with the cutting blades seeing little use while still maintaining much of their original factory polish. The knife has a carbon steel long spear point blade with a common nail pull. The front face has three or four small clusters of light pitting. The rear face has just a few very light and very scattered stains. Stamped on the front tang is “Griffon” (in script)(over) XX. Stamped on the rear tang is GRIFFON (in a full arch)(over) CW (over) GERMANY.  Next to the spear blade is a short carbon steel clip point blade with a common nail pull. The front face has just a few light stains and the rear face has a cluster of light pitting just above the tang.  Stamped on the front tang is GRIFFON (in a full arch)(over) CW (GERMANY). Next to it is the carbon steel pair of scissors with its original spring and working perfectly.  On the other end of the frame but still opening from the top is is a carbon steel pen blade with a protuberance on the top of the blade that has a lip for opening the blade in lieu of a nail pull. Both blade faces are relatively clean other than some scratches from use and a light stain or two. Stamped on the front tang is “Griffon” (in script)(over) XX.  Stamped on the rear tang is GRIFFON (in a full arch)(over) CW (GERMANY). Next to the pen blade is a carbon steel corkscrew with the tip still intact. Now opening from the bottom of the frame is a long carbon steel manicure blade.  It has a standard vertical ridge and valley type file with the fingernail cleaner on the tip of the blade. Next to it is a punch or spike blade I’m not really sure.  All the blades have excellent open and close snap except for the scissors that close quietly. But they work fine. The knife has a great set of genuine Fiery Mother-of-Pearl Scales.  They’re in great condition with the exception of a single small minor pressure crack on the end pin of the front face. Otherwise there are no other cracks, splits or missing chips. They exhibit the greens, blues, pinks and purples in a good slice of Pearl when you turn them in the light.  There are three (3) brass handle pins in each scale. All the back springs are internal and are still performing their designed functions. The liners are brass and all are file worked. The knife was made by Griffon Cutlery Works in Germany. We know it was made prior to 1950 because they changed their name from Griffon Cutlery Works to Griffon Cutlery Corp in the 1940’s. This old 7 blade beauty is 3 1/8” in length. Additional photos or information on request.
