This is an Early Vintage Antique ***Near Mint*** AMERICAN SHEAR & KNIFE CO 3-Blade Sleeveboard Lobster Pen Folding Pocket Knife with All 3 Blades Either Unused And Unsharpened or They Have Been Professionally Cleaned and Repolished, with a Mirror Polished Carbon Steel Narrow Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Mirror Polished Carbon Steel Manicure or Nail File Blade that Opens From the Bottom of the Frame and has a Standard Nail File on the Face that Folds Face Down in the Frame and a Recessed File on the Top of the Blade and a Fingernail Cleaner on the Tip of the Blade, a Beautiful Set of Extremely Fiery Genuine Mother-of-Pearl Scales In Perfect Condition with No Cracks, Splits or Missing Chips, a Small Brightly Polished Nickel Silver Pointed Oval Shield Inlaid Flush in the Front Scale, Four Brightly Polished Brass Handle/Pivot Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished Brass Liners With File Work on the Bottom Liners, 3 3/16” in Length, Made by the American Shear & Knife Company that was Located in Hotchkissville, Connecticut with this Near Perfect Knife Being Made Between c.1870-1914.

This is by far the best condition I’ve ever seen for an antique American Shear & Knife pocket knife of any pattern. Either it was professionally cleaned and re-polished or it’s just in unused and unsharpened in near mint condition. This beautiful Sleeveboard pearl lobster pen knife has a mirror polished carbon steel narrow spear point main blade with a common nail pull and no more than a few light minor liner scuffs on the rear face. Stamped on the front tang is AMERICAN (in an arch)(over) SHEAR (over) KNIFE CO with the A in American falling off the tang. On the other end is a mirror polished carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. Stamped vertically on the front tang is AMERICAN (in an arch)(over) SHEAR (over) KNIFE CO with some parts of the letters falling off the small tang. Opening from the bottom of this exquisite Sleeveboard frame is a long mirror polished carbon steel manicure blade. It has a standard fingernail file on the inside surface that folds face down in the frame. On the top of the blade that faces out when closed is a recessed fingernail file. The top portion of the manicure blade is a fingernail cleaner. All three blades have very good to hard snap on both open and close. This knife has one of the best and fieriest sets of Genuine Mother-of-Pearl Scales I’ve ever seen. They’re in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. Plus both scales exhibit the beautiful blues, greens, purples and pinks one wants to see on an exceptional slice of Pearl as they are turned in the light. There is a small mirror polished nickel silver pointed oval shield inlaid flush in the front scale. There are four brightly polished brass handle/pivot pins in each scale. There is a shallow easy open on the top of both scales with the front one allowing easier access to the spear blade nail pull and the one on the rear scale for easier access to the pen blade nail pull. There’s also a single shallow easy open on the bottom of the front scale that allows easier access to the nail pull on the manicure blade. The top and bottom liners are brightly polished brass with the top liners having been file worked. This gorgeous antique near mint to mint Sleeveboard Lobster Pen Folding Pocket Knife is 105-149 years old and looks as though it came out of the factory today.
