This is a Used and Sharpened Vintage CATTARAUGUS CUTLERY CO. LITTLE VALLEY N.Y. 4-Blade (2 Cutting Blades and 3 Tools) Jr Camp/Utility Folding Pocket Knife, a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade, a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Stubby Clip Point Blade, a Carbon Steel Combo-Blade with a Cap-Lifter and a Flat-Blade Screwdriver, a Carbon Steel Leather Punch, a Nice Set of Medium to Dark Brown Jigged Bovine Bone Scales with a Single Crack on an End Pin on the Rear Scale, a Small Notch in the Front Scale Where the Thumb Stud of the Clip Blade Seats When Closed and a Shallow Easy Open on the Top of the Rear Scale for Easier Access to the Punch, Three (3) Nickel Silver Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished Nickel Silver Rounded Bolsters, the Original Shackle Still Riveted to the Bolsters, Brightly Polished Brass Liners, Two Heavy Duty Steel Back Springs with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 3/8” in Length, Made by the Cattaraugus Cutlery Company Which was Located in Little Valley, New York Between c.1886-1963.

This knife is a bit of a conundrum for me. It’s pretty much identical to the 42219 camp knife. Blade configuration is exactly the same  It has an unusual shield instead of a compass. And on top of that it’s 3/8” shorter than the 42119. The blades are even a smaller version of those on the big camp knife. This knife is only 3 3/8” long versus the 3 3/4” long 42219. I haven’t been able to find this version in any of my catalogs or during research on it. It’s the first one like this I’ve seen.  Even the Whitt-L-Kraft frame is an 1/8” longer but that knife has different blades. This is a Vintage CATTARAUGUS CUTLERY CO., shorter version, of the 4-Blade Camp or Utility Knife but instead of a compass it has a bowtie shield. This knife has 2 cutting blades and 3 different tools.  The main blade is a used and sharpened carbon steel spear point blade with a common nail pull. Both faces still show some light scratches from use and sharpening but the blade is generally clean but patinaed. Stamped on the front tang is CATTARAUGUS (in an arch)(over) CUTLERY CO (over) LITTLE VALLEY (over) N.Y.  Next to it is a carbon steel stubby clip point blade. Its generally clean with just a little light staining. Instead of a nail pull this blade has a brass thumb stud for opening and closing the blade.  On the other end of the frame is a carbon steel combo blade with a common nail pull.  It consists of a cap-lifter on the bottom of the blade and a flat blade screwdriver on the top end of the blade. This blade has a little light staining on both faces and a small cluster of micro-pitting on the front face. The other blade is a carbon steel leather punch blade in perfect condition with the tip still intact. The convex face is pretty clean with only some light staining on the concave side. When closed the thumb stud of the clip point blade seats into a notch on top of the front scale.  The three minor blades still have excellent plus and hard open and close snap. The spear blade has a quiet and faint 'thump" on open and a light "thump" on close. The knife has a nice set of medium to dark brown jigged bovine bone scales.There is a tight pin crack on the end pin on the rear scale. It’s on the front end pin of the spear blade end end pin. Other than this single crack there are no other cracks, splits or missing chips.  There is a brightly polished nickel silver bow tie type shield on the front scale. There is a notch in the top of the front scale where the thumb stud rests when the clip blade is closed. There’s a shallow easy open on top of the rear scale that allows for easier access to the leather punch. There are three (3) polished nickel silver handle pins in each scale. The knife has brightly polished nickel silver rounded bolsters. The original steel shackle is still attached to the bolsters with nickel silver rivets. The knife has brightly polished brass liners. The knife has two heavy duty steel back springs and both are free of any cracks or breaks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This is a great vintage Cattaraugus 4-Blade Camp or Utility Folding Pocket Knives at 3 3/8” in length. Additional information or photos upon request.
