This is a ***VERY RARE** Vintage and Antique 4-Blade Equal End Pen Presentation Knife with a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Long Nail Pull, a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Second Carbon Steel Pen Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Carbon Steel, Dual-Sided Fingernail File, or Manicure, Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Set of Genuine Mother-of-Pearl Scales Engraved on the Front Scale with “Presented to N. Cooper from the Watchmakers 7.3.09”, Two Easy Opens on the Top of Each Scale for Easier Access to Each Blade’s Nail Pull, (3) Nickel Silver Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished German Silver Tip Bolsters, Nickel Silver Liners, Two Steel Back Springs with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 1/16” in Length Made by Either Napanoch or Empire for Sears Roebuck Using Their Wilbert Cutlery Co Chicago Trademark and Made in c.1909.

 

 

 

This is a one of a kind 4-Blade Equal End Pen Presentation Folding Pocket Knife given to a N. Cooper by “The Watchmakers” in July of 1909. This is a Vintage and Antique Wilbert Cutlery Co. pen knife using the Wilbert Cutlery Co. Chicago trademark used on knives made by either Napanoch or Empire for the Sears Roebuck Co. in c.1909. The knife has a carbon steel spear point main blade with a long nail pull. It has scratches from use and the age patina of old carbon steel. Stamped on the front tang is WILBERT (over) CUTLERY CO (over) CHICAGO. Next to the spear blade is one of the two carbon steel pen blades with a common nail pull.  It has some staining and patina on both faces as well. Stamped on the front tang is WILBERT (over) CUTLERY CO (over) CHICAGO.  On the other end is the second of the two carbon steel pen blades with a common nail pull. Both faces have just some light staining. Stamped on the front tang is WILBERT (over) CUTLERY CO (over) CHICAGO.. The blade still appears to be close to full. The final blade is a carbon steel dual-sided fingernail file, or manicure blade. It has a standard vertical ridge and valley type file on each face. The scales are a fiery set of genuine Mother-of-Pearl in excellent plus condition with no cracks, splits or missing ships  Etched on the slant on the front scale is “Presented to N. Cooper from the Watchmakers 7.3.09. Both scales are fiery Pearl showing the blues, greens, pinks and purples of the slice of pearl when turned in the light. There are three (3) nickel silver handle pins in each scale. It has brightly polished nickel silver tip bolster and the liners are nickel silver as well. The two steel back springs are free of any cracks or breaks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This great old, vintage and antique pocket knife is a rare example of a presentation knife made by either Empire or Napanoch, both being two of the highest quality knife makers during that time period. The knife is 3 1/16” in length.  Additional photos or information on request.
