This is a Vintage or Antique SMALL BROS INC GERMANY Sterling Silver 3-Blade Shadow Pen Folding Pocket Knife with a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Long Nail Pull, a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Long Nail Pull, a Carbon Steel Dual-Sided Nail File, or Manicure, Tertiary Blade, a Brightly Polished and Decorative Set of Embossed and Etched .925 Sterling Silver Scales in Great Condition with No Cracks, Splits, Missing Chips, Dents or Dings, Two Brightly Polished Steel Back Springs with No Cracks or Breaks and a Single File Worked Center Liner, 3 3/8” in Length, Made by Small Bros Inc Located in Germany.

At first I thought this might be a Stanhope knife but if it was then the lens is long gone. I guess it’s there now in case one wants to attach a lanyard. This is an uncommon to rare Small Bros Inc .925 Sterling Silver Shadow Pen Pocket Knife with some really decorative scales. There’s really nothing out there concerning Small Bros that I could find anywhere. An unusual blade combination on an uncommon maker but it’s a good looking knife and very well made.  It has a lightly used and sharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a long nail pull. It’s still got most of its original factory finish and is very clean with the exception of the scratches from use and sharpening. Stamped on the rear tang is SMALL BROS (over) INC (over) GERMANY. Next to it is a 2 1/4” long carbon steel dual sided nail file tertiary blade. It has a standard ridge and valley type file on one face and on the other face are two parallel recessed files. The top of the blade is the fingernail cleaner. Stamped on the rear tang is GERMANY. On the other end of the frame is a slightly used and sharpened pen secondary blade with a long nail pull.  It also has a lot of its original factory finish with just a few light stains. Stamped on the front tang is SMALL BROS (over) INC (over) GERMANY. All three (3) blades have excellent open and close snap. The handles on this one are a great looking set of very decorative .925 Sterling Silver. The low relief surface of the handles have a dimpled surface. The raised areas are different intricate designs with a long diamond shape in the middle. Stamped clearly in the center of the diamond pattern is STERLING. There are three (3) Sterling Silver handle pins in each scale. On the end is a hole with a ridge around the edges that I thought might have been for a Stanhope lens but is evidently there for putting a lanyard through it. The scales are in great condition with no dents or dings. It has two polished steel back springs with no cracks or breaks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. There is a single thin file worked bottom center liner. This really nice looking and well made 3-blade Small Bros Inc pocket knife with .925 Sterling Silver handles is 3 3/8” in length. Additional information or photos upon request.
