This is a Vintage, Actually Antique, Barely Used or Sharpened H&B (HUMASON & BECKLEY) 1-Blade Quill Pen Folding Pocket Knife with a Barely Used or Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a Great Set of White Smooth Bovine Bone Scales in Excellent Plus Condition with No Cracks, Splits or Missing Chips and a Pointed Open End, Three Brass Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished Nickel Silver Bolsters, Brightly Polished Brass Liners, a Single Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 2 7/8” in Length and Made by Humason & Beckley Located in New Britain, Connecticut and Made Between c.1852-1916 and is 2 7/8” in Length.

This is an excellent antique Humason & Beckley 1-blade quill pen knife. These knives were made to sharpen writing quills. Understandable why they quit making this knife by 1916. This beauty of a knife has a barely, hardly, used or sharpened carbon steel narrow spear point blade with a common nail pull. The blade may have been very lightly used but looks to be unsharpened and seems to still have its original factory edge. The front face has some scattered light staining closer to the cutting edge. The rear face just has a few scattered specks. Stamped on the front tang is stamped H&B (over) MFG CO (over) N BRITAIN (over) CONN. The blade has a good snap on open and an excellent snap on close plus a very good half-stop. It has an excellent set of white smooth bone scales. They’re in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There are three (3) brass handle pins in each scale. It has long brightly polished nickel silver bolsters and brightly polished brass liners. The single steel back spring is in great condition with no cracks or breaks and it continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. This is an extremely nice Antique Humason & Beckley 1-Blade Quill Knife made in their factory located in New Britain, Connecticut between c.1852-1916. Finding an example in this condition at 105-169 years old is a very rare find. The knife is 2 7/8” in length. Additional photos or information on request.
