Trademark Made as a Second Line to the NYKC Hammer Brand First Line of Knives.

The Electric Cutlery Co. had been in business since 1873 and knives were produced in their facility in Newark, New Jersey. In 1903 the Fuller Brothers purchased the New York Knife Company located in Walden, New York and continued to operate both factories until 1910. In 1910 they closed the Newark factory and moved production of the Electric knives to the Walden factory. They continued to produce the Electric Cut. Co. Knives as a second line to the NYKC HammerBrand first line of knives. In 1920 they ceased producing knives using the Electric Cutlery Co. trademark but continued making the NYKC knives until going bankrupt in 1931.

This is a Vintage Antique Electric Cut Co. Walden, N.Y. 2-Blade Swell End Jack Folding Pocket Knife made after production was moved to the Walden factory in 1910. Thus this knife was made between c.1910-1920. The knife has a carbon steel clip point main blade with a long matchstriker nail pull.  The front face has some scratches from use and some scattered very light pits with a few clusters of very light pits under the nail pull. The rear face has scratches from use and some scattered staining and a few clusters of micro-pits. The blade is still very close, if not at, full. Stamped on the front tang is ELECTRIC (over) CUT. CO. (over) WALDEN, N.Y. The knife also has a carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. The front face has some scattered very light pitting mainly along the mid-line. The rear face shows scratches from use and sharpening but is cleaner than the front face. The pen blade seemed to be the go to blade with much more wear near the center of the blade. It has some scratches from use and some light scattered staining. Stamped on the front tang is ELECTRIC (over) CUT. CO. (over) WALDEN, N.Y. Both blades still have excellent and hard snap on both open and close and both have hard distinct half-stops. The knife has a great set of dark brown jigged bovine bone scales. They're in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There are three (3) brass handle pins in the front scale and four in the rear scale. It has a brightly polished German Silver crest shaped shield on the front scale. The knife has brightly polished German Silver squared bolsters and brightly polished German Silver rounded end caps. The liners are very polished brass. The knife has two steel back springs. Both are free of any cracks or breaks and they both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This great looking Electric Cutlery Co. 2-Blade Swell End Jack Folding Pocket Knife was made in the New York Knife Co factory that was located in Walden, New York between c.1910-1920 using their Electric Cutlery Co. trademark that was discontinued in 1920.  The knife is 3 1/2” in length.
