Model No. 21709 2-Blade Barehead Slim Jack Folding Pocket Knife with a 3 5/16” Long Carbon Steel Saber Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, a 2 5/16” Long Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, Medium Brown Jigged Bovine Bone Stag Scales in Excellent Plus Condition with No Cracks, Splits or Missing Chips, a Brightly Polished Nickel Silver Pointed Oval Shield on the Front Scale, Four (4) Polished Brass Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished Nickel Silver Bolsters, Brightly Polished Brass Liners, Two (2) Steel Back Springs with No Cracks or Breaks, 4 1/16” in Length.

This is a very nice Vintage Cattaraugus Cutlery Co Model No. 21709 Barehead Slim Jack Folding Pocket Knife. The knife has a 3 5/16” long  carbon steel saber clip point main blade with a common nail pull.  Both blade faces have scratches from use and sharpening but other than a few specks and a few scattered very light stains both blades are pretty clean. Stamped on the front tang is CATTARAUGUS (in an arch) (over) CUTLERY CO (over) LITTLE VALLEY (over) N.Y. Stamped on the rear tang is the model number of 21489. The knife also has a 2 5/16” long carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. Both blade faces have numerous scratches from use and just some very light very scattered light staining. The front face has two small clusters of deeper pitting. Both blades are tight in the frame with no wobble or play. Both blades have decent to very good snap on both open and closed if they’re the first blade closed. If they’re the second blade closed then I guess they rub together and are quiet on close. Both have a decent “thump” on the half-stops. It has a great looking set medium brown jigged bovine bone stag scales. The scales are in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. It has a brightly polished nickel silver pointed oval shield on the the front scale. There are four (4) brightly polished brass handle pins in each scale. The knife has brightly polished nickel silver bolsters. The liners on this knife are brightly polished brass. The knife has two (2) steel back springs with no cracks or breaks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This nice vintage Cattaraugus Model No. 21709 Barehead Slim Jack Folding Pocket Knife was made in the Cattaraugus factory that was located in Little Valley, New York and made between c.1886 and 1963.the knife is 4 1/16” length.
