This is a Vintage Mint ARNEX STAINLESS JAPAN 2-Blade Shadow Pen Folding Pocket Knife with an Unused and Unsharpened Stainless Steel Sheepfoot Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull and with its Original Factory Mirror Polish and it’s Original Factory Edge, a Stainless Steel Uniquely Shaped Coping Type Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, Brightly Polished Intricately Designed 2-Color Embossed Metal Scales with Slanted Ends in Perfect Condition with a Profile View of a Native American Chief on the Front Scale, Two (2) Steel Handle Pins in Each Handle Along with the Two (2) Steel Rivets Holding the Bail to the Frame. a Single Brightly Polished Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 3 1/2” in Length, Made by Arnex with This Knife Made in Japan Sometime Most Likely Post 1940. 

This is a Mint condition Arnex Stainless Japan 2-Blade and 2-Color Embossed Metal Shadow Pen Folding Pocket Knife with slanted ends. Arnex made knives between 1920 and around 1940 mainly in Mexico and Solingen.  They popped up again sometime after WW II and were made in Taiwan and Japan. I know they made some of their knives in Solingen, some in Mexico, some in Taiwan and some in Japan. This one was made in Japan. A lot of people don’t know but Arnex made several different versions of outdoor scenes on this same platform. A lot of these came paired in sets with the same scene on a pocket watch. I’ve had several of these matching sets over the years. Arnex made a quality knife and a quality pocket watch. This knife has an unused and unsharpened stainless steel long narrow sheepfoot point main blade with a common nail pull. It still has its original factory mirror polish and it’s original factory edge. Stamped on the front tang is ARNEX (over) STAINLESS (over) JAPAN. On the other end of the frame is an unused and unsharpened stainless steel uniquely shaped coping type secondary blade. It still has its original factory mirror polish and it’s original factory edge. Both blades still have excellent open and close snap. The knife has slanted 2-color embossed metal scales with intricate designs on both sides. The pièce de résistance,  at least for me, is the profile depiction of an Native American Chief or other high ranking tribal leader centered on the front scale. The frame itself is silver toned but the relief area is in black enamel. This really makes the designs pop with the silver against the black background.There are two (2) brass handle pins in each scale. The original bail is still riveted to the frame. I cleaned up the scales removing all the oils, dirt and fingerprints and polished it up nice and bright.  The knife has a single steel back spring which is free of any cracks or breaks and continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform.
