This is an Antique or Vintage CHALLENGE CUT CO BRIDGEPORT CONN 4-Blade Unofficial Scout Folding Pocket Knife with One Cutting Blade and 3 Tool Blades with Four Tools with a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Long Nail Pull, a Carbon Steel Combination Blade with a Cap-Lifter (Bottle Opener) and a Flat Blade Screwdriver, a Carbon Steel Can Opener Blade, a Carbon Steel Leather Punch Blade, a Set of Medium Brown Jigged Bovine Bone Scales With No Cracks, Splits or Missing Chips, a Shallow Easy Open on the Top Rear Scale to Allow Easier Opening of the Leather Punch and a Notch Cutout on the Top Front Scale Where the Can Opener Seats, a Brightly Polished Nickel Silver Very Long Gimp Style Shield Centered on the Front Scale and Stamped SCOUT, Three Brightly Polished Brass Handle Pins in Each Scale, Brightly Polished Nickel Silver Single Fluted and Rounded Bolsters, the Original Nickel Silver Bail Still Riveted to the Scales, Brightly Polished Brass Liners with an Extra Bottom Liner on the Back Side, Two Heavy Duty Steel Back Springs with No Cracks or Breaks, Made by the Challenge Cutlery Company That Was Located in Bridgeport, Connecticut between c.1905-1928 and is 3 5/8” in Length.

This is a very well made Challenge Cutlery Co. Unofficial Scout folding pocket knife. The knife has one cutting blade and four very useful tools in the field on the three other blades. The knife has a lightly used and sharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a long nail pull. Both faces have scratches from use and just a few very minor specks on either face. are very clean and polished up very well. Stamped on the front tang is CHALLENGE (in an arch)(over) CUT CO (over) BRIDGEPORT (over) CONN. Stamped on the rear tang is either a large C or a half moon.  There is a very faint blade etch on the front face that reads CHALLENGE but it is so faint I couldn’t even get a decent photo of it so I can’t list it as an attribute. If you have sharp vision and good light you might be able to make it out. Next to the spear blade is a carbon steel combination blade consisting of a cap-lifter, or bottle opener, and a flat blade screwdriver. Other than a few minor stains and a few light scratches it polished up very well. Stamped on the rear tang is again the large C or a half moon. Never seen this on another Challenge. On the other end of the knife is a carbon steel can opener blade. It is mechanically sound with only a few light scratches. The last blade is a carbon steel leather punch. It polished up brightly and is pretty much blemish free and polished up very bright. The punch is full length and the tip is still fully intact. All four blades have hard open and close snap. This knife has a set of medium brown jigged bovine bone scales.  They’re in excellent plus condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There’s a shallow easy open on the top of the rear scale to allow for easier opening of the leather punch. There’s also a notch in the top of the front scale that allows the can opener to seat flush to the scale while in the well. There is a brightly polished nickel silver long gimp style shield centered on the front scale and stamped with SCOUT. The knife has brightly polished nickel silver single fluted and rounded bolsters. The knife still has it original nickel silver shackle attached to the bolsters. The knife has brightly polished brass liners with an extra brass liner on the bottom on the rear side. The knife has two heavy duty steel back springs. They are free of any cracks or breaks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This great old vintage or antique 4-blade Challenge Cut Co Unofficial Scout is still in great shape. The knife was made in the Challenge factory which was located in Bridgeport, Connecticut and made between c.1905-1928. The knife is 3 5/8” in length. Additional photos or information on request.
