ADDITIONAL INFO:   When I got this knife it was in near mint condition apart from a small patch of celluloid that was off-gassing at the edge of the handle. The gassing had caused some minor rusting on one edge of the tang. I removed the handle, removed the little spot of rust and replace the handle with Fossil ivory. The piece of fossil ivory I put on the backside of the handle had some delamination and had a void in it. I cut a patch of solid ivory into replace that which had broken off. If you look at the bottom edge of the handle you can see this piece of ivory I used as a filler. I used epoxy and cyanoacrylate, to stabilize the piece of ivory. The sheath that comes with the knife is the correct sheath for that knife, I verified it in Harvey Platt’s book, “The Knife Makers Who Went West.” The catalog reprint shows the wine-colored tubular sheath that was hand laced as being the correct sheath for that knife. I don’t think this knife was used much if any. And except for the small spot of deterioration of the celluloid and the ensuing rust it caused this knife was pretty much pristine. It’s rare to find one such good condition. It would not surprise me to learn that the original owner of this knife it never used it!

This is a restored & customized vintage knife. Like many old soldiers it may have a few battle scars, but it is ready for inspection, parade, and if necessary for the next deployment!
