I like Puukko knives, made and originated in Finland, which I always do hidden tang and hand forged steel of course. This pair is made from the same pattern but a fulltang design with only the frontal area being forged, ( to shape the point and add distal taper). To me the Puukko design is graceful, smooth flowing, with attention to slightest angle/proportions. It’s a hard knife to put down, just feels too good in hand. This prototype pattern will be referred to as Model #1 in future production. The steel is 6150, a very tough steel similar to the popular 5160 but with added chromium and vanadium being the key element to pin grain size. Quenched and tempered to just above 60 RHC, this finish is hand-sanded to 800 grit, with tops wedge to define and chisel the point. The scales are genuine Karelian birch cut from the same vintage block. Karelian birch is rare and only found in certain regions, notably the Baltic countries. I am offering the pair suggesting a concept such as “His n Her” or “Father and Son or Daughter”. (Yes, gals like knives too!) Both knives have sheaths included, 6oz. vegetable tanned, dyed British Saddle Tan, and fit specially for each knife. Ask me questions as I like to exchange.
